My Review of The Big Sick

So I recently watched The Big Sick and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Kumail (played by Kumail Nanjiani) is a Pakistani comic who meets an American graduate student named Emily (played by Zoe Kazan) at one of his stand-up shows. As their relationship blossoms, he soon becomes worried about what his traditional Muslim parents will think of her. When Emily suddenly comes down with an illness that leaves her in a coma, Kumail finds himself developing a bond with her deeply concerned mother (played by Holly Hunter) and father (played by Ray Ramono).

When people say that original films never get made anymore and all we see are comic book movies or over the top action films, you need to show them this film and that talk will hush. Judd Apatow has brought us some great comedies over the years and although he neither directed or wrote the film, you still see his hand print everywhere in the film and it really shows within the script that Kumail Nanjiani helped write or the direction Michael Showalter took the film in. Speaking of Kumail Nanjiani, he gives such a charming and magnificent performance that makes you feel every emotion his character feels throughout the film which just makes him so relatable. The supporting cast all give great performances as well and the two standouts are Hunter and Romano who both have shots along with Nanjiani at receiving Oscar nominations in January and it is early, but if they were held today then the film gets multiple nominations. The film does have a lot of the same troupes we've seen in countless other romantic comedies, but it does a great job of introducing us to newer material that it take the claim when some film copies those troupes down the line. Overall this is a great small movie in the middle of the summer that it going to attract a lot of attention come Oscar season for all the right reasons. I give The Big Sick a 9 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think og The Big Sick, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
