So I recently watched Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Young Greg Heffley (played by Jason Drucker) is looking forward to a long summer of just hanging out, but his mother (played by Alicia Silverstone) throws a monkey wrench into his plans when she forces the entire family to take a road trip for a relative's birthday celebration. His eyes soon light up after he realizes that the excursion is his ticket to a gaming convention to meet YouTube sensation Mac Digby (played by Joshua Hoover). Greg's imagination then kicks into overdrive as he sneakily hatches a scheme to attend the expo and gain some much-deserved fame.
Just to put it very bluntly, this film absolutely sucks. Look the book franchise was a hit with kids, but the films so far have been absolutely terrible and they have gotten worse and worse each time and this just adds to the downward spiral. The films have gotten so bad that for this new film, they recast everyone from the previous films to try to "reboot" the franchise and instead they went in reverse. There is nothing remotely great about this film in any way, shape or form. The new cast isn't much better than the previous one and in fact is actually more annoying than the previous cast. Alicia Silverstone is a decent actress, my goodness if she needs work this badly, then her career outlook isn't great. It has one of the dumber plots you will ever see and everything you know that can go wrong does go wrong making it one of the more excruciatingly and painful films to sit through as you're being force fed bad jokes and terrible acting all to try to masquerade the fact that this is one of the worst films of the year and as an adult, you may want to get payback on your child for wanting to see this film. Overall the film is nothing, mean nothing and will be forgotten about almost immediately and it might one day be a trick question for a movie trivia show. When you have a film that makes The Room look like a masterpiece, then you have a serious problem. I give Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul a 0 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and your voice be heard.
