My Review of Alien: Covenant

So I recently watched Alien: Covenant and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

A black-and-white poster of a mass of people being surrounded/tortured by the aliens, not unlike the Renaissance depictions of Hell, with one alien at the center highlighted by a shaft of light from the upper-left.

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (played by Katherine Waterston and Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (played by Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.

This is a really fun yet predictable film. if you've ever wanted to see a Alien film made with today's technology then this is the film you need to see. The film feels like a return to form with just enough action and just enough suspense to make you feel like you are back in the universe after watching a film like Prometheus. Ridley Scott is back to direct his baby in the sense he directed the first Alien film in 1979, Prometheus and now this. it looks as if he is returning back to the Ridley Scott of old and the future looks really bright for his next few films. The performances are great and some are pretty typical and what you would expect in a film like this, but Katherine Waterson is becoming a star right before our eyes and she really commands the screen when she is seen and falls in line with Weaver and Rapce as the awesome female leads we've seen in this franchise. Michael Fassbender is back once again playing duel roles and in both he is equally great although, the film does great really predictable once the character David pops up in the film. The real standout is Danny McBride who is equally funny and just flat out awesome and it's really nice to see him step out of his comfort zone to be able to take a big step like this and hopefully we can see more out of him. As mentioned the film is really predictable and quite honestly some of the trailer gave away a lot of the film and it doesn't give off that scary vibe that we saw in the first film. If you pay attention to certain scene towards the end when they are fighting a Xenomorph on the planet, then you basically predict the ending right then and there. Overall it's a fun film that has a lot of nice pieces, but it's really predictable and doesn't really build on the myth of the Xenomorphs as much as you would hope. I give Alien: Covenant a 7 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Alien: Covenant, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
