Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

Following the announcement on Wednesday that Sony Pictures had cancelled the December 25 theatrical release of The Interview, the studio has now released the following official statement on the hacking it suffered, what information may have been stolen and the identity theft protection services they are offering to people who may have been impacted: As is being widely reported in the press, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) experienced a significant system disruption on Monday, November 24, 2014. SPE has determined that the cause of the disruption was a brazen cyber attack. After identifying the disruption, SPE took prompt action to contain the cyber attack, engaged recognized security consultants and contacted law enforcement.
SPE learned on December 1, 2014, that the security of certain personally identifiable information about its current and former employees, and their dependents, that participated in SPE health plans and other benefits, and certain production employees potentially may have been compromised. Although SPE is in the process of investigating the scope of the cyber attack, SPE believes that the following types of personally identifiable information that such individuals provided to SPE potentially may have been obtained by unauthorized individuals: (i) name, (ii) address, (iii) social security number, driver’s license number, passport number, and/or other government identifier, (iv) bank account information, (v) credit card information for corporate travel and expense, (vi) username and passwords, (vii) compensation and (viii) other employment related information. In addition, unauthorized individuals may have obtained (ix) HIPAA protected health information, such as name, social security number, claims appeals information submitted to SPE (including diagnosis), date of birth, home address, and member ID number to the extent that the potentially impacted individuals participated in SPE health plans, and (x) health/medical information provided to SPE outside of SPE health plans.
Also on December 1, 2014, SPE began the process of notifying employees that it would be providing identity theft protection services to them and to their dependents. SPE has continued to reach out to potentially impacted individuals with notification about this situation, to offer identity protection services and to provide them with information about how to protect themselves from identity theft and other potential loss. SPE is encouraging potentially impacted employees and former employees to be especially aware of email, telephone, and postal mail scams that ask for personal or sensitive information, as neither SPE nor anyone acting on its behalf would contact them in any way, including by email, asking for credit card number, social security number/government identifier or other personally identifiable information. Individuals asked for this information can be confident SPE is not the entity asking. To protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss, SPE encourages potentially impacted employees and former employees to remain vigilant, review account statements, monitor credit reports to the extent available, change passwords and to enroll promptly in the identity theft protection services made available to them by SPE. The purpose of this press release is to take further steps to make sure that potentially impacted individuals receive this information.
This is the best statement that Sony could release. Listen I've been indifferent about the whole idea of not releasing the film in any format. Now that I've heard a lot of different opinions I just want to say I personally think Sony made the right call. One thing I hadn't really though of until my movieblogging idol and inspiration Mr. John Campea of AMC Movie Talk made a statement today that really made me look at the big picture. You can't take chances in a situation like this no matter what you think. People have brought up the Aurora, Colorado shooting back in 2012 and make the point that if that theater (which was a Cinemark) had known about the possibility of the attack don't you think they would have said we are not going to show the film and most of you would complain and probably call them pussies for doing so when they have to look out for the well-being of thei costumers and the fact of the matter is that if in the situation they did show the film and the attack went through as planned, then they would be liable and you people would be crying out and would boycott Cinemark theaters. In this case Sont knew about the possibility of the attack and they did what they thought was best for the safety and well-being of the public. Sony was put in a position of dealing with a double-edged sword and in this case while the choice is unpopular, it was the right one to make. I was on the fence about it, but no now Sony has my support and if you don't like me supporting Sony then stop reading because it's my opinion and I'm going to stick by it 100%. I more than anyone would love to see this film, but at the current moment it's not the right time for the film to be released.
This year, Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Today, the film’s leading man, Mark Wahlberg, tells MTV that not only does he think he’ll be back for Transformers 5, but that he thinks it will happen sooner rather than later. “Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more,” says Wahlberg when asked about his future in the hit franchise. “I can’t speak for Mr. Bay, but something tells me we’ll be on set soon.” In Age of Extinction, Wahlberg played Cade Yeager, a Texas inventor and mechanic who was also very protective of his daughter, Nicola Peltz’s Tessa Yeager. His next big screen project has the star headlining Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt’s The Gambler, a remake of the 1974 film starring James Caan. Among his projects hitting theaters in 2015 are Seth MacFarlane’s comedy sequel Ted 2 and the John Morris and Sean Anders helmed Daddy’s Home, which has Wahlberg facing off against Will Ferrell. Bay has, in the past, expressed interest in potentially turning the director’s chair on the Transformers franchise over to a new helmer. If he does return to direct a fifth film with Wahlberg, it will mark the pair’s third big screen team-up. In addition to Age of Extinction, Wahlberg starred opposite Dwayne Johnson in Bay’s true crime tale Pain & Gain.
This is pretty interesting news, First off I just want to say that Transformers: Age of Extinction a horrible film and I hated it very badly. With that out of the way Mark Wahlberg was one of the better parts of the film and while his character is boring and stupid the performances is actually really good. Part of me wants to see Wahlberg come back, but with a different director. Bay is horrible and shouldn't come back whatsoever. I think that Wahlberg's character and the story would benefit with another director and hopefully my Christmas wish comes true.
When the trailer debuted for Jurassic World three weeks ago, it confirmed a long-standing rumor that in the context of the film, the owners of the park had done a very silly thing – they’d made their own dinosaur. Speaking with EW, director Colin Trevorrow teased this brand new creation. “There are dinosaurs and there’s the other—there’s this thing that is not one of them, that is not of them,” Trevorrow said. “There’s a lot of bold new ideas in the movie and I’m pushing it as far forward as I can. I know Steven didn’t want me to make a carbon copy of the earlier films. So we’re going for it.” Based on Trevorrow’s comments, are the dinosaurs able to tell the difference between the “real” dinosaurs and the Frankenstein-asaur? It’s unclear at the time, but certainly a point that could prove useful when the beast eventually escapes in the film. Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on June 12, 2015, the anticipated movie stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Judy Greer, Katie McGrath, Lauren Lapkus and Andy Buckley.
I love these comments. Look I really love dinosaurs and to see a new type of dinosaur that is a hybrid of some sort and it shows that the filmmakers are trying something different in the film. I think that was obvious by the raptors riding alongside Chris Pratt. Look I love everything that has come from the film so far and I cannot wait to see it on the big screen next summer.
Warner Bros. Pictures has just released a new trailer for Clint Eastwood’s upcoming military drama, American Sniper and you can check it out below. The film, which hits theaters in a limited release on December 25 with plans to expand everywhere on January 16, stars Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, Guardians of the Galaxy) and Sienna Miller (Stardust, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and tells the true story of Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. There was much more to him, however, than just his skill as a sharpshooter. U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname “Legend.” However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the SEAL creed to “leave no man behind.” But upon returning to his wife, Taya Renae Kyle (Miller), and kids, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind.
This is a powerful and emotional trailer. It really gives us more of insight about the film and this man's life and the horrors he's seen during his military service. I'm really intrigued by the film and I'm anxious to see Bradley Cooper's performance and maybe this is the film where Eastwood gets back on the map.
Fox Searchlight Pictures has just released, via Yahoo! Movies, the trailer for director Rupert Goold’s True Story, starring Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street, This is the End), James Franco (The Interview, Oz The Great and Powerful) and Felicity Jones (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Invisible Woman) and you can check out the trailer below. True Story is based on Finkel’s own memoir, “True Story: Murder, Memoir, Mea Culpa,” published in 2006 with the following official description: On February 2002, New York Times Magazine writer Michael Finkel received a startling piece of news: a young man named Christian Longo, wanted for killing his entire family, had been captured in Mexico, where he’d taken on a new identity: Michael Finkel of the New York Times. The next day, on page A-3 of the Times, came another troubling item: a note from the editors explaining that Finkel, having falsified parts of an investigative article, had been fired. Nonetheless, the only journalist Longo would speak with was the real Michael Finkel, and so Finkel placed a call to Oregon’s Lincoln County jail, intent on getting the true story. So began a bizarre and intense relationshipa reporting job that morphed into a shrewd game of cat-and-mouse. Part mystery, part memoir, part mea culpa, True Story weaves a spellbinding tale of murder, love, and deceit with a deeply personal inquiry into the slippery nature of truth. True Story stars Hill as Finkel and Franco as Longo and also marks the big screen directorial debut of Goold, best known for his directing work on the British stage.

This was a really interesting and pretty awesome trailer. You would think when first hearing about the film's two main leads you would think that it's a buddy comedy movie when in fact this film is going to be dark. These two are Academy Award nominated actors and I honestly fele that this could be their best performances. It does have an April 2015 release date so I don't know if it will still be in the Academy's mind come Oscar season 2016, but form the looks of this trailer it very well could be.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, which of these stories peaked your interest or was there another story that interested you? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
