My Review of Murder on the Orient Express

So I recently watched Murder on the Orient Express and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

A lavish trip through Europe quickly unfolds into a race against time to solve a murder aboard a train. When an avalanche stops the Orient Express dead in its tracks, the world's greatest detective -- Hercule Poirot (played by Kenneth Branagh)-- arrives to interrogate all passengers and search for clues before the killer can strike again.

This is a film that had a lot of potential, but it never quite lives up to it. This story has been told several times since the novel was released back in 1934 and the mot notable adaptation was released in 1974 and this film follows the same plot as that film and the book which just doesn't work. Now some of you will questions why it doesn't work and it's because in this in age you have to be different and possibly changing around a few changes to help keep the audiences on their toes and not make things seem so predictable. The film is loaded with a lot of talent with numerous Academy Award winners, nominees and young stars in the making and while some of those actors get a lot of screen time, some of them barely get any screen time for you to even notice they are in the film. For the ones you do see on screen a lot, they each give pretty decent performances, but in the back of your mind you wish you could see the other actors in the film. Visually the film looks stunning which is something you often wouldn't say about a film that mainly takes place on train, but the look and the feel of the environment really make you feel as if you with them in each scene. Overall this film has a great cast but most aren't used enough, the film has a pretty good plot, but it does nothing to differ it from previous versions of the story, it does have some nice visuals, but it's not that hard to do when you basically have only one set to use. I give Murder on the Orient Express a 4 out of 10.
