My Review of Jigsaw

So I recently watched Jigsaw and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado............

After a series of murders bearing all the markings of the Jigsaw killer, law enforcement officials find themselves chasing the ghost of a man who has been dead for over a decade, and they become embroiled in a new game that's only just begun. Is John Kramer back from the dead to remind the world to be grateful for the gift of life? Or is this a trap set by a killer with designs of his own?

This is fun film and a great way to reintroduce the Saw franchise back into the public eye. The Saw franchise is one that changed the horror genre in a lot of ways and after it ended, it left a lot of people with a sour taste in the massive fans and this film does a great job of really breathing new life into the franchise for years to come. The main things that made the Saw films stand out was the unrelenting gorefest they turned into and this one really dials it down in that aspect which refreshing to see after 7 other films. The story is relatively simple and doesn't over complicate itself in any way, but it would be nice to see the filmmakers take risks and not play it so safe. Visually you can tell the difference in the film in the sense that the over-bearing green tone that was laid over a lot of the scenes is gone and each scene has a brighter color palette to really make you feel uncomfortable on a nice sunny day, people are getting murdered in sadistic traps. As with every Saw film there is a twist and if pay attention, you can find the twist early on in the film and this film does a bait and switch both with the story and the twist that hearkens back to the first 2 Saw films in that you don't expect them coming unless you pay attention. Acting wise is basically boring which is what you come to expect from the latter sequels of the franchise which is bland and boring. Overall this film does a great job of being an improvement over some of the other Saw films and really sets the tone moving forward for future installments in this classic horror franchise. I give Jigsaw a 6 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Jigsaw, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
