My Review of The Girl on the Train

So I recently watched The Girl on the Train and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

The Girl on The Train.jpg

Commuter Rachel Watson (played by Emily Blunt) catches daily glimpses of a seemingly perfect couple, Scott (played by Luke Evans) and Megan (played by Haley Bennett), from the window of her train. One day, Watson witnesses something shocking unfold in the backyard of the strangers' home. Rachel tells the authorities what she thinks she saw after learning that Megan is now missing and feared dead. Unable to trust her own memory, the troubled woman begins her own investigation, while police suspect that Rachel may have crossed a dangerous line.

This was a very confusing film to watch. Now in the sense of the plot and what the film is about isn't confusing, but it's just how everything was executed was the confusing part. The film is meant to be a mystery thriller, but to be honest there is no mystery to it. The final act is explained almost virtually in the first act and you can predict the killer within about 30 or so minutes of the opening. Nothing about this felt suspenseful. and the build up just feels forced. The way they get to the conclusion of the film is just weird and it goes back again to the obvious points, all you have to do is pay attention and you'll figure it out. The performances are spectacular with Blunt being just as good as she always is and you get nice supporting performances out of Luke Evans and Edgar Ramirez. other than that the film is just plain boring and uninteresting to say the least. There are parts of the film where it just becomes too dramatic and some scenes that fill out of place that don't help the narrative. Overall this film just doesn't make much sense with too many moments that feel unnecessary and get too emotional while wasting a really talented cast that collectively gives great performances. I give The Girl on the Train a 2 out of 10.
