So i recently watched The Accountant and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Christian Wolff (played by Ben Affleck) is a mathematics savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a freelance accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. With a Treasury agent (played by J.K. Simmons) hot on his heels, Christian takes on a state-of-the-art robotics company as a legitimate client. As Wolff gets closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, the body count starts to rise.
This film is one of the more surprising films of the year. It's surprising in the sense that it's much more action packed that expected. The film is weird in a lot of ways and it does a nice job of making a somewhat boring title and making it into a film that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Ben Affleck is phenomenal in the film playing this autistic accountant that is stronger and smarter than anyone would expect. J.K. Simmons is in the film and up until the third act you don't see much of him, but the lack of appearances in the film pays off in the end when everything comes full circle. It tells the story through quite a few flashbacks, but they are all necessary to help us understand how Ben Affleck's character thinks and does what he does. There are some slow moments in the film, but the action makes up for it big time as you sit in amazement in everything going on in the film. Also there is quite a bit of obvious and subtle humor that blend well together and it helps relieves the tension that you feel in the film. All together throughout the film it does feel a little confusing, but it's all wrapped up nicely in the third act. Overall this is an enjoyable film that can surprise you in a lot of ways even if at times it feels confusing or slow. I give The Accountant a 9.5 out of 10.
