So i recently watched Deepwater Horizon and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explodes in the Gulf of Mexico, igniting a massive fireball that kills several crew members. Chief electronics technician Mike Williams (played by Mark Wahlberg) and his colleagues now find themselves fighting for survival as the heat and the flames become stifling and overwhelming. Banding together, the co-workers must use their wits to make it out alive amid all the chaos.
This is one of the most intense films of the year. When the BP Oil Spill occurred, all anyone wanted to talk about was the spill itself and what it did to the Gulf of Mexico and while it destroyed the gulf, no one really discussed the workers and how they tried their best for this event to not happen. It's an interesting side of the story and it makes for a fantastic film. Peter Berg is a hit and miss director, but when he hits, he hits and makes beautiful films and this is one of those beautiful films. The actors do a great job of really bring out the emotion of the situation and make you feel for them and even when you see some of the people die, you feel heartbroken and it's something you don't expect from a film like this. With that the film has a perfect balance between different emotions and even blending in a little bit of an action thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat. At some points in the film the action does get a little of the top and some of the events feel exaggerated, but this film as a whole is a solid piece of work. Overall this film told the story it needed to tell without cutting corners and just being a film that doesn't need much other than basic storytelling techniques that has perfect balance. I give Deepwater Horizon a 9 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Deepwater Horizon, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
