So I recently watched Bridget Jones's Baby and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Breaking up with Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth) leaves Bridget Jones (played by Renée Zellweger) over 40 and single again. Feeling that she has everything under control, Jones decides to focus on her career as a top news producer. Suddenly, her love life comes back from the dead when she meets a dashing and handsome American named Jack (played by Patrick Dempsey). Things couldn't be better, until Bridget discovers that she is pregnant. Now, the befuddled mom-to-be must figure out if the proud papa is Mark or Jack.
This is a decent, but not great film. This franchise has an audience and it's obvious to see that now that this film is coming out after a 12 year gap between films. Renee Zellweger is a phenomenal actress and she really owns the role and she can play a pretty convincing British women when in real life she's from Texas. Always having Colin Firth in the film is a plus and he just brings his natural charisma to the screen and you can tell he's absolutely committed to the role. Patrick Dempsey also does a great job of replacing Hugh Grant in the third wheel role which he should be used to after his role in Sweet Home Alabama. Speaking of Hugh Grant it felt awkward to not see him in the film and the way he was wrote out of the film was a little too over-dramatic and could've had an easier and better explanation. The film has a story that we've seen before and it's all just really predictable and it gets to be very boring. There is a lot of great humor in the film, but some of it feels forced and it's like the film just tries too hard to get you to laugh and get involved with the story. Overall this film just feels like a big reach to bring fans back after a long hiatus and tries too hard to please fans more than the general audience. I give Bridget Jones Baby a 6.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Bridget Jones Baby, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
