My Review of Blair Witch

So I recently watched Blair Witch and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado....

A young man and his friends venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mystery surrounding his missing sister. Many believe her disappearance 17 years earlier is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when two locals act as guides through the dark and winding woods. As the night wears on, a visit from a menacing presence soon makes them realize that the legend is all too real, and more sinister than they could have ever imagined.

This film is pretty decent considering how good the first film was. Now while it is 20 times better than Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, this film is the actual true sequel to the original Blair Witch Project and it doesn't even come close to matching that films quality. it is pretty unfair to make that comparison mainly due to the films coming out 17 years apart and a few things have changed since then, but when you make a film that continues a story you have to come out swinging for the fences and this film just doesn't. The factthat this film has the found footage element helps connect the films, but the camera work in this film is atrocious and you have absolutely no idea what is going on even when the main characters aren't doing anything. The story does have some interesting elements, but it follows the same beats as the first film. The scares are better in this film that the original and it's not even a question and it comes off just as creepy as the original film. The performances are better in this film than in the original and to be able to put in the whole backstory of this guy finding his sister from the first film helps give this film its own unique spin that separates it from the original film. There are a few dumb moments where you just have shake your head, but the ground work has been laid and this franchise could go some places in the near future. Overall the film had a lot to live up to and in most cases it doesn't, there are a few bright spots to help this film standout over it's predecessor. I give Blair Witch a 6 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Blair Witch, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
