My Review of Annabelle: Creation

So I recently watched Annabelle: Creation and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Former toy maker Sam Mullins (played by Anthony LaPaglia) and his wife, Esther (played by Miranda Otto), are happy to welcome a nun (played by Stephanie Sigman) and six orphaned girls into their California farmhouse. Years earlier, the couple's 7-year-old daughter Annabelle (played by Samara Lee) died in a tragic car accident. Terror soon strikes when one child sneaks into a forbidden room and finds a seemingly innocent doll that appears to have a life of its own.

This is a very creative yet boring and predictable film. Now that sentence may be a little condescending, but that's probably the best sentence to sum up the entire film. David F. Sandberg is slowly proving himself to be a fabulous horror director with him directing both the short and the feature film of Lights Out and while the story of this film is really generic, the scares are very creative and they are scares that haven't been done on film or haven't been done as much and it brought a sense of freshness to the film. As mentioned the story is really generic and it follows the beats as a regular horror film and nothing about the story really interests anybody. If you are someone who hates horror films simply because you think they are cheap and overall terrible films then this is not the film to see and the film does cater more towards the traditional horror fan, but those traditional horror fans might be turned off by the fact that it is a bland film with things you've seen before. One thing that is really annoying in horror films is the fact the the characters always seem really stupid and do stupid things and while in Sandberg's other Lights Out the characters made smart decisions throughout the film and in this film none of the characters make any smart decisions which is a little frustrating. Overall this film comes up with really unique scares that make you as audience member to expect the unexpected when it comes to scares, but outside of the that nothing about the film is really interesting and you can't really invest in the characters. I give Annabelle: Creation a 3 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Annabelle: Creation what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
