My Review of Baywatch

So I recently watched Baywatch, and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado......

Matt Brody (played by Zac Efron) is a former Olympic swimmer who wants to join an elite team of lifeguards led by the hulking Mitch Buchannon (played by Dwayne Johnson). Brody thinks he's a shoo-in, but his casual attitude starts to instantly rub Mitch the wrong way. When drugs and a shady resort owner pose a threat to the bay, Mitch and Matt must put their differences aside to spring into action and save the day.

This film is an absolute mess. Look the having a popular tv show is great, but to be honest that show sucked a lot and only gained recognition for using slow-motion when the lifeguards were running, outside of that there is nothing that says there has to be a film made and then you get this pile of garbage. The film is an omage to the tv series in a lot of ways, but it has the same stupid qualities of the series and it more or less comes off as a version of 21 Jump Street with The Rock and Zac Efron instead of Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. In comparing those films, the original 21 Jump Street series and the film are two complete opposites and it makes the film work, however the Baywatch film is like the series in every way which doesn't help the film work. There aren't a lot of great things to say about them film other than the performances are good, but it's mainly due to the actors giving those performances because they are having fun with the film becasue deep down they know it's a terrible film Story wise it makes no sense whatsoever and it's nowhere close to even being a realistic idea that lifeguards would take down a crime unit selling drugs near their base. Everything is way too over the top and there are lot of things going on at once it's hard to understand which directions the film wanted to go. Some jokes are decent, but it felt like the writers (Damian Shannon and Mark Swift) really forced you to laugh at their jokes and none of them really hit home although there are some small giggles here and there. Overall this film is a mess and it proves once again that making something off on existing IP is very hard to do and when you change nothing about the original and try to bring it to the big screen is much tougher than it looks. I give Baywatch a 1.5 out of 10,

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Baywatch, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
