My Review of 47 Meters Down

So I recently watched 47 Meters Down and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Young sisters Kate (played by Claire Holt) and Lisa (played by Mandy Moore) travel to Mexico for a vacation filled with sun, fun and adventure. Lisa needs some extra persuasion when Kate suggests that they go diving in shark-infested waters. Safe in their protective cage, the thrill-seeking siblings come face to face with a group of majestic great whites. Their worst fears soon become a reality when the cage breaks away from their boat, sending them plummeting to the ocean floor with a dwindling supply of oxygen.

This is a really fun and intense yet predictable film. Sharks are one of the most common fears among humans and if you have a massive fear for them, then you shouldn't see this film. The film is a typical run of the mill of horror film in which everything that can go wrong does go wrong. Also the scares really aren't that great and the majority of them of bad jump scars that you predict just before they happen, but the suspense in certain scenes really builds the tension within the film to make the good scares even better. The film as a whole is predictable and it's to be expected with a film with a premise as simple as this film has. It has a lot of plot conveniences that really just hurt the film narrative and the main characters make some pretty dumb decision. The film as a whole is a good film to a point, but the ending is very predictable and you'll know the ending once a certain plot element is introduced that really ruins the overall fun of the film. Performance wise you don't get much from any of the actors, but it would be nice to see Mandy Moore in more horror films because she could be your prototypical scream queen. Overall it's a fun film whilst being very predictable and having one of the most cliche endings ever to be put on film. I give 47 Meters a 4 out of 10.
