Weekend Movie News 7-4-14 to 7-6-14

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Two more names have been officially added to the cast of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII today! Lucasfilm just revealed that Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson are set to join Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie in the December 18, 2015 release.

At the end of last year Lucasfilm and Disney invited all young aspiring actors to attend an open casting call for roles in J.J Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII. The casting calls spanned 11 cities across the US and UK and over 37,000 hopefuls attended, with a further 30,000 submitting applications online.Having hunted high and low for young and undiscovered talent, the filmmakers are delighted to announce that two actors from the open call call have been cast.

Crystal Clarke is an American actress studying in Glasgow, UK, who has both stage and screen acting experience and is soon to be seen in her first feature, "The Moon and the Sun" (to be released in 2015). British actor Pip Anderson is a skilled practitioner of parkour, a discipline that involves propelling oneself through any given environment with incredible grace and agility. Pip recently demonstrated this remarkable skill in a Spider-Man ad for Sony. “The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition. We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film,” said producer and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

Meanwhile, principal photography continues at Pinewood Studios in London after wrapping on location in Abu Dhabi in May.

I really like this casting. star Wars has always been about getting unknown actors and getting great performances. I'm looking forward to seeing how these two will do in the film. I really have liked the casting for the film as it it is a talented roster that is built to last for a really long time.

Universal Pictures has released a new poster for writer/director James DeMonaco's The Purge: Anarchy which you can check out below. Opening in theaters on July 18, the thriller stars Frank Grillo, Michael K. Williams, Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez andKeith Stanfield. In this entry, audiences will be thrown into the streets of Los Angeles during the night of "The Purge." Grillo plays a man out for revenge for the death of his son. He saves a few stragglers along the way, but will they only serve to slow him down when the city is filled with killers?

This actually a creepy poster. It really gives a feeling for how much darker this film will be. I didn't really like the first film , but with the new ideas and better cast I'm actually looking forward to the film. My only worry is that the marketing may have shown us to much of the film already.

The anticipated David Fincher-directed adaptation of Gillian Flynn's bestselling novel Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, is a mere three months away, but 20th Century Fox continues to use an enigmatic marketing campaign to tease it.  The earlier teaser poster with the clever tagline "You don't know what you've got 'til it's..." has been followed by four "evidence bag posters" that add a few more clues to the film's case of a missing wife. All four posters tease the premiere of the movie's next trailer on Monday, July 7. You can see the four teaser posters below and they're brought to us courtesy of: IndieWire, Awards Daily, The Huffington Post and HitFix. Gone Girl is expected to hit theaters nationwide on October 3.

These are really cool posters. They give us more of a clue of how the film will go. I haven't read the book and I plan on staying away from  spoilers.  I am also looking forward to the film simply because of the story and the combination of David Fincher and Ben Affleck.

Vertical Entertainment has released, via iTunes Movie Trailers, the trailer for writer/director Tim Garrick's upcoming comedy Behaving Badly, starring Nat Wolff, Selena Gomez, Mary-Louise Parker, Elisabeth Shue, Dylan McDermott, Jason Lee, Heather Graham, Cary Elwes, Gary Busey and Patrick Warburton.

Based on the book "While I’m Dead...Feed The Dog" by Ric Browd, the film follows Rick Stevens (Wolff), who is willing to do whatever it takes to try and win the heart of Nina Pennington (Gomez) – even if this means making a bet with a mobster’s son! The pressure is on, but the mob isn’t the only thing that's standing in his way. If he ever hopes to land the girl of his dreams, he'll also have to deal with a group of strippers, his best friend's horny mother (Shue), his drug-abusing boss (McDermott), a perverted principal (Warburton), a priest with a really big secret (Lee), a sultry defense attorney (Graham), and a patron saint who dispenses cryptic advice (Parker).

Behaving Badly hits theaters in a limited release August 1.

This is a horrible trailer. I mean it pretty much gives away the entire film and it just looks like a horrible film. It's bad when you know the film will be a low budget crapfest when the trailer gives you that exact feeling. Hopefully the film turns out great and none of the talented cast members mailed it in for a paycheck.

Walt Disney Pictures has debuted a new "Heroes" featurette for Planes: Fire & Rescue, opening in 3D and 2D theaters on July 18. Check it out in the video below.

Planes: Fire & Rescue is a new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous team, including spirited super scooper Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

This is a pretty cool featurette. It's really interesting to hear how in-depth the filmmakers were with the film and it's in internal meaning. I wasn't to keen on this film but now after watching this the film looks and sounds amazing and I'm looking forward to the film.
