So I recently watched Sex Tape and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado................
Jay (played by Jason Segel) and Annie (played by Cameron Diaz) are a married couple still very much in love, but ten years and two kids have cooled the passion. To get it back, they decide - why not? - to make a video of themselves trying out every position in THE JOY OF SEX in one marathon three-hour session. It seems like a great idea, until they discover that their most private video has gone public. In a panic, they begin a wild night of adventure - tracking down leads, roping in friends, duping Annie's boss - all to reclaim their video, their reputation, their sanity, and, most importantly, their marriage.
This was a very disappointing film. From the trailers you get the feeling that this has the potential to be really funny and actually challenge Neighbors for the best comedy of the year and it fails miserably. It has a few funny parts but it's mostly really annoying and the majority of the jokes went on for to long. I will say that I really did like the acting in the film and it's mostly accredited to Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal who have really great chemistry with this being the second time n the big screen together (the other time was in the film Bad Teacher). The film feels more like a sketch comedy rather than a raunchy comedy like Anchorman, The Hangover and Neighbors. The film also wasted it's supporting cast which is really talented (it includes Rob Lowe and Rob Corrdry). Overall the film is a hot mess that tries way to hard to be funny and fails miserably. Overall I give Sex Tape a 1 out of 10.
