So I recently watched Smurfs: The Lost Village and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Best friends Smurfette (voiced by Demi Lovato), Brainy (voiced by Danny Pudi), Clumsy (voiced by Jack McBrayer) and Hefty (voiced by Joe Manganiello) use a special map that guides them through the Forbidden Forest, an enchanted wonderland that's filled with magical creatures. Their adventure leads them on a course to discover the biggest secret in Smurf history as they race against time and the evil wizard Gargamel (voiced by Rainn Wilson) to find a mysterious village.
Now while this isn't a great film, it is most certainly better than the live-action films that came out a few years ago. The one thing that this film has over those films is that it is all animated with no live-action characters like Neil Patrick Harris and Hank Azaria and it really takes you back to the animated cartoon in a lot of ways. Another is that the voice cast is great in that they aren't a massive distraction with lesser know actors than who were in the first film. Unlike the other films, this one has a decent story and some really humorous moments that actually connect with you especially if you watched the show as a kid. Speaking of kids, this film is a great introduction for them to The Smurfs if they have never seen the cartoon or the previous films before then it's a film that they can enjoy while sitting with their parents as they embrace the nostalgia. Now while the story is decent, there several predictable moments in the film and the ending is something you can see a mile away. Also while there are some great jokes, some do get to be a little childish and they come in at the wrong moments which can take you out of the movie completely. Overall it's not the greatest film in the world, but it is a vast improvement over the previous two films, but that also doesn't say that much either. I give Smurfs: The Lost Village a 3 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Smurfs: The Lost Village, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
