So I recently watched CHiPs and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado............
Jon Baker (played by Dax Shepard) and Frank "Ponch" Poncherello (played by Michael Pena) have just joined the California Highway Patrol in Los Angeles, but for very different reasons. Baker is a former motorbike rider who's trying to put his life and marriage back together. Poncherello is a cocky, undercover FBI agent who's investigating a multimillion dollar heist that may be an inside job. Forced to work together, the inexperienced rookie and hardened veteran begin clashing instead of clicking while trying to nab the bad guys.
This has to be one of the worst tv to film adaptations to ever be put on the big screen. As a tv show Chips was stupid and honestly very unfunny and made absolutely no sense. This film plays out like every other buddy cop film of this generation where the two leads are screw-ups and every time they do something, it ends up destroying something or lets the villain get away. None of the jokes work at all and it's painful to watch a talented guy like Michael Pena suffer through this. Dax Shepard not only stars in the film he also wrote and directed the film and you can tell that he did by the childish humor he puts in the film, adding his wife (Kristen Bell) to the film and just making a lot of dumb decisions when it comes to the story. As a whole the film feels like a drawn out tv special that seems to last 2 1/2 hours and it lasts 101 minutes which is even more miserable. If you can find one redeeming quality in this film, then props to you because you suffered through the same garbage as the rest of us. Overall this film is straight up horrible and it was a very unnecessary film to make due to the tv show being one of the least memorable shows of all time and the film will now become very unmemorable as time goes by. I give CHiPs a 0 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of CHiPs, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
