My Review of Allied

So I recently watched Allied and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.............

Allied (film).png

Max Vatan (played by Brad Pitt) and Marianne Beauséjour (played by Marion Cotillard) are World War II operatives who never reveal their true identities. After falling in love during a risky mission, they hope to leave all that double-dealing behind them and start new lives. Instead, suspicion and danger envelop their marriage as both husband and wife become pitted against each other in an escalating, potentially lethal test that has global consequences.

This might be one of the most boring films ever made. At one point Robert Zemckis made decent films that changed your imagination for the better, but here recently he's been trying to hard to "wow" you and it ends making his films look like garbage. This film is almost an exact ripoff of another Brad Pitt film Mr & Mrs. Smith just set in World War II instead of modern times. That's where this film get boring and it's mainly due to recycled plot in a misplaced time. Both Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard are terrific actors and they do their best with what they are given, but it honestly feels like they are trying too hard. There are a lot of subtle little nods to this time period in a lot of great ways and it tries to make you feel like you are apart of the story and the time. Going back to the performances of Pitt and Cotillard, you as an audience member are meant to feel the conflict they face as well as their passion for each other and it comes off as campy and unrealistic. As mentioned before with this being somewhat of a Mr & Mrs. Smith ripoff and it makes this film very predictable in what happens. Also what makes that film so much better than this one is the story and sense of direction in which this film has Robert Zemeckis and Steven Knight directing and writing respectively compared to Mr & Mrs. Smith in which you had Doug Liman and Simon Kinberg directing and writing that film and often times you would take the former instead of the latter, but in this case you take the latter every single time. That's the difference and one of the main weak points of this film and when you can't connect to the story then there is nothing for you to really be interested in throughout even with good performances. Overall this film lacks a great story and tries to be something different and really undermines the performances of the two lead actors. I give Allied a 3 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Allied, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
