So I recently watched The Lego Batman Movie and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
There are big changes brewing in Gotham, but if Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) wants to save the city from the Joker's (voiced by Zach Galifianakis) hostile takeover, he may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. Maybe his superhero sidekick Robin (voiced by Michael Cera) and loyal butler Alfred (voiced by Ralph Fiennes) can show him a thing or two.
This is just a flat out awesome movie. When the first Lego film was announced, many people (myself included) rolled their eyes at the thought of film like that being any good and it ended up being one of the best films of 2014 and within that film it gave us a great characters and it offered a lot of potential spin-off films with various characters and Batman was the standout of that film so he's the first one up and this film may end up being one of the best films of the year. First off the story is just perfect on every level and it really has a great meaning at the heart of it that will connect with both kids and adults. Comedy wise there are a ton of jokes and they come at you pretty fast and if you aren't careful you'll miss some of them and even if you do pay attention there are some you will miss. If you are a hardcore Batman fan (like myself) this is the perfect film for you and it does a great job of poking fun at the character in his storied history and it mostly focuses on the previous films and the 1960's tv series which makes for a lot of great references. The voice cast is perfect and every actor fits their respective character well and Will Arnett is really the perfect choice to voice Batman. The animation is just gorgeous and it really just all fits together so well with the music and the great characters we see in the film. It also shows that Warner Bros. is willing to make fun of themselves and if you can't laugh at yourself every now and then, then your life will be pretty miserable. As for the film as whole when it come to nitpicking, the film does tend to slow down in the second act after going fast and furious in the first act and then ramping it up the third act, that little change of pace can take you out of the film especially after everything that goes on in the film. Overall this film isn't as good as The Lego Movie, but it is right up there and it is a really solid film that opens the door for so many possibilities when it comes to the Legoverse. I give The Lego Batman Movie a 9.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Lego Batman Movie, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
