My Review of A Dog's Purpose

So I recently watched A Dog's Purpose and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

A Dog's Purpose (film).jpg

A devoted dog (voiced by Josh Gad) discovers the meaning of its own existence through the lives of the humans it teaches to laugh and love. Reincarnated as multiple canines over the course of five decades, the lovable pooch develops an unbreakable bond with a kindred spirit named Ethan (played by Bryce Gheisar). As the boy grows older and comes to a crossroad, the dog once again comes back into his life to remind him of his true self.

This film is just absolutely terrible. Now before the films release, there was a lot of controversy surrounding it with a video surfacing of Dog being forced to do something against it's will and just to let everyone know that that this incident will not effect the review in anyway. As for the film itself it's a really boring film to watch. Dogs are precious animals and they can bring joy to anybody's life, but seeing a dog in this film just made me feel so terrible and it was a painful experience to see this type of film on the big screen. It tries to just hit you over the head with the fact there is a dog in the film and it tries to pull at the emotional heartstrings way too much. A lot of the scenes feel way too dramatic when this should've been a fun film with a few emotional moments. The performances are too sappy as well and they just feel forced going along with the way too emotional scenes. Josh Gad does do a good job with the voice of the dog and you can't honestly tell that it's him and that's a credit to his voicework ability. While there are a lot of unnecessary tear-jerking moments, some of them do actually hit home especially if you are a dog owner and it makes you want to hold them closer than ever before. Overall this film is pretty terrible, but there are a few moments that do hit home the way they are supposed to, but still the overall film as a whole just doesn't work. I give A Dog's Purpose a 2 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of A Dog's Purpose, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
