So I recently watched Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Childhood friends Conner (played by Andy Samberg), Owen (played by Jorma Taccone) and Lawrence (played by Akiva Schaffer) found fame and fortune after forming the hip-hop group the Style Boyz. Owen and Lawrence faded into the background when frontman Conner left the band to launch a successful solo career. Now, the egotistical singer decides to film a documentary about his life while he's still on top. When his second album flops, the camera is there to capture his world come crashing down.
This was a really surprising film. When first looking at the film, you can see a lot of ways it go wrong in a hurry and that's due to it begin a parody, a lot of the good jokes being in the trailers and Andy Samberg. All of the big jokes are in the trailers, but when you see the film and they explained a little more and put into context you can still see the humor in them. Not all of the jokes hit, but there are quite a few solid jokes in the film. Andy Samberg hasn't really had the best track record when it comes to films, but he shines in the role and he was a perfect fit for the character and it's be hard seeing someone else in the role. The film is a parody in the veins of This is Spinal Tap as sort of a mockumentary and it really does jump on a lot of topic currently going on in our world it all works well, but the story as a whole is noting original and it's one of the more predictable films this year. Just like the jokes, there are also a lot of cameos and some work and some are just so out of place that you can't understand why that celebrity was in the film. Overall it's a very surprising comedy that works with the style of filmmaking that was chosen. I give Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping a 7.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
