With its sequel Finding Dory set to hit theaters this weekend, I thought it would be fitting to review its predecessor Finding Nemo. So without further ado...
Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks), a clown fish, is overly cautious with his son, Nemo (voiced by Alexander Gould), who has a foreshortened fin. When Nemo swims too close to the surface to prove himself, he is caught by a diver, and horrified Marlin must set out to find him. A blue reef fish named Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres) -- who has a really short memory -- joins Marlin and complicates the encounters with sharks, jellyfish, and a host of ocean dangers. Meanwhile, Nemo plots his escape from a dentist's fish tank.
This is just a simply fantastic film. Animated films have to rely on a good story for anyone to be interested and this film has a truly magnificent story. It has a lot of themes that are geared towards both adults and children and it's a film that can bring families closer together. It's a film that tugs at the emotional heartstrings and it does from the very first scene of the film and with that it just sets a tone throughout the film and you automatically get attached to every character in some way. The animation is gorgeous and it's so perfect that you feel like you are underwater with all of these animals. Voice performances are also keys to a great animated film and the voice performances are phenomenal and they all fit each character well. The two real standouts are Albert Brooks as Marlin and Ellen DeGeneres as Dory who you are attached to for the majority of the film and they both just work well together. When you have balance between both story and visuals you end up getting a fantastic film and this film has perfect balance between a lot of various aspects. The humor is perfect as well and just like the story, the jokes are for both adults and kids which just makes the film so much more entertaining. Overall this is a film that it going to be a timeless treasure for years to come, that caters to every audience that watches it. I give Finding Nemo a 10 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Finding Nemo, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
