So I recently watched Coco and here to bring you my review. So without further ado....................
Despite his family's generations-old ban on music, young Miguel (voiced by Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz (voiced by Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor (voiced by Gael García Bernal), the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.
This is easily one of best animated films of the year and one of the more emotional films of the year. Pixar over the years has been able to hit the emotional heartstrings of everyone whether it be the opening scene of Up or the incinerator scene in Toy Story 3, but the emotion in this film takes it to a whole new level. It's really a great look at family and how no matter what happens, your family will always love you and it's a film that deals with death and how that one special person in your family being gone forever effects your well-being and that you know that your relationship with that person isn't truly over because if they were special to you then they will always be apart of your life. The animation is gorgeous as it always is with Pixar films and it looks even better when it goes to the Land of the Dead. The voice cast is spectacular and each actor brought a whole lot of life to their characters in a lot of different ways to where some of them will be remembered for a long time. Some of the images in the film might seem scary for kids, but they come across as playful and enjoyable so do not be afraid to take your kids to see this film and there are even moments for adults to enjoy. It's perfect representation of Mexican heritage and it really helps you connect to that if your not too familiar with it. The music is fantastic and it might be the best music ever put into a Pixar film and that does say a lot. The biggest problem with the film is that it is really predictable and it's a massive criticism from several other people and if you pay just a little bit of attention then you'll notice it right away. Another thing is the humor and a lot of it is really great, but some of it does seem a little cringeworthy. Overall this is a fabulous film and not only one of the best film animated films of the year, but one of the best films of the year and it's a film that everyone can go out and enjoy. I give Coco a 9 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Coco, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
