Here are the weekend domestic box office results for the weekend of 9-1-17 to 9-4-17 as well as my 5 key takeaways, as well as my predictions for the top 5 films at the box office this weekend. Since this past weekend was Labor Day, I'm also including Monday's totals as well. So without further ado...

1. Once again due to a massive lack of competition, The Hitman's Bodyguard held onto the number one spot for the third consecutive weekend.
2. As you can tell by the table above this was an awful Labor Day weekend at the movies and according to the fine people at boxofficemojo.com, this was the worst Labor Day Weekend in 17 years. You can see it was bad as two films that weren't even in the top 10 last weekend jumped back into the top to and the lowest drop of the weekend was 2.4%
3. It really does shock me that no major studio wanted to release a film this past weekend and instead settles for a summer release making for some pretty crowded weekends. If there was a weekend this past summer where 3 big films came out the same weekend, one of them easily could've moved to this past weekend and made a lot more money than it did in the summer. Thankfully we have IT (2017) being released this upcoming weekend to help the slow bleeding movie theaters have felt over the past couple of weeks.
4. The biggest loser of the weekend was Girls Trip as it only made 2.4% less than it did last weekend and the biggest winner of the weekend was Despicable Me 3 as it made 42.9% more than it did last weekend.
5. I went 3 for 5 on my predictions.
Predictions
1. It (2017) $75 Million
2. Home Again $15 Million
2. Home Again $15 Million
3. Wind River $9 Million
4. The Hitman's Bodyguard $6 Million
5. Annabelle: Creation $3 Million
So ladies and gentlemen what do you think of this weekend's box office totals and what are some of your takeaways? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
