My Review of Nymphomaniac Vol. 2

        So I recently watched Nymphomaniac Vol. 2 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...







        The continuation of Joe (played by Charlotte Gainsbourg) 's sexually dictated life delves into the darker aspects of her adult life and what led to her being in Seligman (played by Stellan Skarsgard)'s care.

     

        I was somewhat disappointed by the second part in the Nymphomaniac franchise. Was I glad that this part had little to no sex scenes? Yes and no, simply because in the first part the questionable scenes had so much passion and was so beautiful, yet I was glad that the sex didn't overshadow the 2nd part. This part was really slow and dark. The performances are less than stellar in this part and that's really a sad especially when you have Stellan Skarsgard and Willem Dafoe. Also the ending is a complete load of crap and it's a slap in the face to rest of the 4 hour of your life that you have spent watching both parts. Overall though this part was a letdown compared to the first part and I'm going to give Nymphomaniac Vol. 2 a 5.5 out of 10 and once you average my rating of 8 out of 10 for the first part you come to an average of 6.75 but here we round up so for both parts combined  give Nymphomaniac a 7 out of 10.

My Review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier

        So I recently watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...









        After the cataclysmic events in New York with his fellow Avengers, Steve Rogers, aka Capt. America (played by Chris Evans), lives in the nation's capital as he tries to adjust to modern times. An attack on a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague throws Rogers into a web of intrigue that places the whole world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson) and a new ally, the Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie), Rogers struggles to expose an ever-widening conspiracy, but he and his team soon come up against an unexpected enemy.

       

        This film was amazing. The film is action-packed, it has some amazing visuals and it has some of the best fight choreography that I have ever seen in a film. The story is amazing and can get a little confusing at times, but it was one that kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. The story itself has an espionage feel to it and it has a lot of themes that we in america deal with today. The acting is awesome and I really loved the addition of Anthony Mackie as Falcon. I will state that this is the best stand-alone movie in the MCU and it gives The Avengers a run for its money as the claim to being the greatest comic book movie of all-time. Overall I really enjoyed the film and I'm excited to see how everything that happens in this film relates to the upcoming The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Overall I give Captain America: The Winter Soldier a 10 out of 10 and you should definitely check this out in theaters.

My Review of Captain America: The First Avenger

        So in honor of Captain America: The Winter Soldier of being released this weekend I've decided to review the first film in the franchise Captain America: The First Avenger. So without further ado...







        After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America's ideals.

       

        While this is apart of the MCU's (Marvel Cinematic Universe) phase 1, it is by far one of the weaker films in the universe. This film has one of the better origin stories I have seen in a long time and it is very action packed. The performances are amazing especially Chris Evans as Captain America and Tommy Lee Jones as Colonel Chester Phillips. I also like the visuals in the film as well as the retro vibe that it brought off. One negative is that the film took a really long time to get going and by that I mean that it took n early 50 minutes just get a huge action scene and then over 5 minutes of montages when they could of had a bigger impact. Also I felt that the story was very plain and simple and it didn't really have a long lasting effect. Overall I really enjoyed the film and it was a great ending to the phase 1 solo films. Overall I give Captain America: The First Avenger a 7.5 out of 10.

My Review of God's Not Dead

        So I recently watched God's Not Dead and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado......







        Josh Wheaton (played by Shane Harper), a devout Christian and freshman college student, enrolls in a philosophy class taught by a dogmatic and argumentative atheist. Professor Radisson (played by Kevin Sorbo) demands that all of his students must sign a declaration that "God is dead" in order to get a passing grade. Faced with a choice between passing the class and betraying his beliefs, Josh refuses. And so the professor strikes a bargain: Josh must defend his position that "God's not dead" in a series of debates with him. If he loses, he flunks. When Josh accepts the challenge, he gets more than he bargained for — jeopardizing his faith, his relationships, even his academic future.

     

        I was really surprised by the film. It has a very emotional and moving story about someone standing up for what they believe in and the film presents a lot of modern day issues that every devout Christians deal with on a daily basis. I thought Kevin Sorbo's performance was spectacular. Now on the downside of the things, I thought besides Sorbo's performance the acting was really terrible and their were a lot of annoying characters. I thought the film went a little longer than it should of (Its runtime is 113 minutes) and I think it should have been 90 minutes long. Also I thought the film really just wasn't a great cinematic experience and I feet that it would of had more of an impact on TV where more people could have seen it. Overall it brings across a great and inspiring message and I'm going to give God's Not Dead a 6.5 out of 10 and if you get the chance to see it on TV then please watch it.

My Top 10 Films That Need A Remake/Sequel

        In today's society we look at films as an escape from reality and some of the movies that we see can leave a special impact on our life. We also look at Hollywood and think they are stupid for remaking a movie that we dearly love or add a sequel to a film that we sometimes don't want or think the film doesn't need a sequel. The fact of the matter is that when Hollywood sees $ signs then they decide that eventhough it doesn't need one, there're gonna do it anyway. On the flip side of the coin there are a lot of movies out there that could greatly benefit from a remake or a possible sequel due to the technological advance that have occurred since the original films release. With all of that being said I am going to bring you my tip 10 films that need a remake, reboot or a sequel. What I'll do is post the original film, what it needs and some reasons why i believe this. So without further ado...





10. Blade Runner                        (Remake or Sequel)


        The original film is a sci-fi masterpiece and the visuals that it had were breathtakingly amazing and I can only imagine what a sequel or reboot would look like today. As of now Ridley Scott is planning on an untitled film once he is done with the upcoming Exodus (comes out later this year) and the already confirmed Prometheus 2 and many suspect that the untitled film is in fact Blade Runner 2. All I can say is Ridley Scott don't make Prometheus 2 and just get straight to work on Blade Runner 2 .

9. Metropolis                                 (Remake)


        I know many of you have never seen or have even heard of this movie and that's not a surprise since it came out in 1927.  Compared to the visuals we see today, Metropolis was ahead of it's time and I feel that an American version of this German epic in today's society would be magnificent.

     




8. The Wizard of Oz                        (Remake)


        Now before I even start I know I going to catch a lot of crap for saying this, but just Imagine Oz with today's technology. The Emerald City would amazing and the possibility of CGI flying monkeys makes it even more of a fun idea.







7. Dune                                       (Remake)


        Like I said with Blade Runner, this film was ahead of its time and the effects were amazing. This film while it has its problems still looked amazing in 1984 and it would look even more amazing in 2014.






6. Animal House                     (Remake)


        This is one of the greatest comedies of all-time as well as one of my favorite films of all-time. This film helped launch careers for people such as John Belushi and Kevin Bacon and I feel that a remake of this film could help younger talent launch their careers and get them on the biggest stage.





5. 12 Angry Men                       (Remake)


        This film has already had a remake but it was for TV and it was with a majority of lesser known talent besides Tony Danza. George C. Scott and James Gandolfini. If you put a few a-listers into a remake I personally think that you could easily top the original.


4. The Towering Inferno         (Remake)


        Speaking of a-list talent this film was an amazing disaster film (it's a good film not a disaster). This film had a lot of a-list talent from the 1970's and I feel that you could add a little bit of special effects and a-list talent from today, I think this film could be amazing.






3. The Breakfast Club               (Remake)


        This film was such a hit in the 80's and it resonates to this day. John Hughes had such a good talent for bringing the problems that teens on to the big screen and showing everyone the struggles that they have. I feel that a remake of this movie with some of today's issues could have the same impact as this did in the 80's.






2. Galaxy Quest                            (Sequel)


        This film set itself up to have a sequel. It's a basic parody of Star Trek and it was just absolutely hilarious and I feel that the crew of NSEA-Protector has many more adventures that it could go on.






1. Innerspace                                (Remake)


        As a kid watching this I really didn't understand what it was about. But after watching it later in life I found it to be very enjoyable as well as an in-depth look into the human body. As I have said before, with today's technology it is untelling what the filmmakers could do with this film.

My Review of The Raid 2

        So I recently watched The Raid 2 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado..............







        After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen - a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls - rookie Jakarta cop Rama (played by Iko Uwais) thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. He couldn't have been more wrong. Formidable though they may have been, Rama's opponents in that fateful building were nothing more than small fish swimming in a pond much larger than he ever dreamed possible. And his triumph over the small fry has attracted the attention of the predators farther up the food chain. His family at risk, Rama has only one choice to protect his infant son and wife: He must go undercover to enter the criminal underworld himself and climb through the hierarchy of competing forces until it leads him to the corrupt politicians and police pulling the strings at the top of the heap.

       

        When I heard they were doing a sequel to The Raid I got really excited because the first film was awesome but I was a little scared simply because action films don't tend to live up to their predecessor. Boy was I wrong because The Raid 2 is awesome. It is so action packed and it has some of the coolest fight scenes I have seen since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (and that's saying a lot). Iko Uwais gives one hell of a performance. With all of the action you would think that the plot of the movie would just get clouded over but it doesn't and that's a testament to director Gareth Evans abilities. Overall I loved the film and I think it is way better than the original so overall I give The Raid 2 a 9.5 out of 10 and you should definitely see this in theaters if you get the chance too.

1. Noah (despite controversy) rolled over the competition and opened up with really solid numbers, but it better enjoy it while it can because Captain America: The Winter Soldier is coming for number 1 next week. 

2. The Grand Budapest Hotel was in 1,509 less theaters than Sabotage and it made $3 million dollars more than Sabotage. You could also say the same for God's Not Dead as well.

3. God's Not Dead surprised everyone and managed to crack the top 5 and I'm glad to see it happen

4. With no other competition besides Noah, Divergent was able to make a good chunk of money for a 2nd place movie in it's second weekend

5. Though they have had really good numbers outside of the U.S., 300: Rise of an Empire, Need for Speed and Non-Stop are considered financial failures in America.
